The BOO Thanks MIRVAC!

Tuesday 15th March, 2011.

The BOO would like to thank MIRVAC for our fabulous Colorbond roof. To read the letter in full, click here.

Check out the before and after shots, doesn’t it look so much better? We’re so proud of the new BOO!

Before.

After.

BOO washed out too!

For barefoot bowls, the amount of rain we’ve had in December has been a pain. But plenty of people braved the bad weather to take advantage of The BOO’s friendly, relaxed vibe and delicious meals and drinks nonetheless.

Below are some shots taken when one of the more savage storms swept over in mid-December. We hope the rain hasn’t caused anyone too many headaches!

Hoping rain won't come and spoil our fun!

The flags start to bend as winds sweep in.

And here it comes!

The storm hits.

And it keeps bucketing down!

And when it's over - it's over for our tents too.

The end result...

The Boo's bowls green - or bowls POND?

Meet Chef Jeff

Meet Chef Jeff

Meet The BOO’s Head Chef Jeff Crawford. His food is a work of art, so our on-hand creative Ilana Tulloch felt the world should know!

The BOO, while always eating as the French do, loves to rave about Chef Jeff’s fresh and healthy approach to creating inspired dishes and new twists on old favourites. Jeff has been with The BOO two years, and has a penchant for desserts (his chocolate pasta is truly outstanding).

He is the master of re-designing old classics, and his specialty is using simple, basic ingredients and re-working them to their fullest potential. The BOO loves to tell her guests how wonderfully Chef Jeff has turned what was a ‘roast and 3 veg’ bowling club into an affordable complete dining experience.

“I enjoy good, simple food, and using it to get others interested in and inspired by it too,” he says.

“Chef Jeff started at Lorenzo’s Diner in Woollongong 12 years ago, and worked his way up the East Coast of Australia before finally settling in Brisbane.

“I love the vibe in Brisbane. It’s a big city with a small town feel, and the relaxed lifestyle suits me perfectly,” he says.

“The menu at The BOO changes every month, and as summer approaches Jeff says his tips for summer are to eat light, fresh food, and cool, soothing desserts such as ice cream.

“He also recommends booking a function or party at The BOO. Her great functions packages will suit any group size and include The BOO’s signature delicious food.

It’s getting dangerously close to Christmas – and The BOO is THE place for functions. So do check out The BOO’s functions packages HERE.

Corporate Bowls Day

Masters Tournament

Booroodabin Masters Tournament – 10th September 2010.

The Booroodabin Masters was the most prestigious bowling tournament in Queensland from 1957 to 1999, held by notable bowlers such as Rob Parella and Steve Glasson.

The Booroodabin reinstated the Masters Corporate Tournament this year hosted by Mr Peter Beattie, former Premier of Queensland from 1998 to 2007, and Mr Ross Rolfe AO, former Co-ordinator General and Director-General of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet with Mr Beattie.

The day loomed wet and uninviting and was a serious worry to the organisers. Boo’s chef had prepared a feast so play was delayed until after lunch when there was a welcome break in the weather.

Players hit the greens ready to contest the trophy. The competition was fierce even though there was some mention that the umpire was able to be bought.

Awards were given for the first four teams.

1st: Geoffrey Thomas Family Trust

2nd: Alinta Energy

3rd: WDS Limited 4th: Mincom

The photos of the day will attest to the good time had by all, and can be seen on our Facebook page. Boo wishes to thank Peter and Ross and all participants!

See you next year!
