Is there parking at The Boo?

Yes, we have plenty of parking to make your visit hassle-free! Just a heads-up, on our busiest days, the lot might fill up, so plan accordingly.

What is the capacity of The Boo?

We cater to both small and large groups. We can comfortably accommodate up to 300 guests and also provide for more intimate gatherings!

How do you bowl?

The Boo Bowls

At The Boo, we keep things fun and social, offering a relaxed version of the traditional game.

One of our bowling instructors will take you through how to play prior to your session starting time.

Each player gets 2 bowls: one side of the bowl has a large ring, and the other a small dotted side, which the bowl naturally curves towards.

The goal? Get your bowl closest to the jack (the white ball).

Everyone rolls their first bowl, then their second. Whoever lands closest to the jack wins that round and gets to bowl last in the next! The rules are simple—no throwing, lobbing, or basketball-style moves.

Drinks are welcome on the green, just keep them in hand!

Smoking and vaping are only allowed in designated areas or outside the venue.

While we are a barefoot bowls club, shoes are allowed as long as they have flat soles like sneakers or thongs—no R.M. Williams boots or anything with a heel.

Most importantly, enjoy your time at The Boo!

If you have any questions, our bowls instructor will be managing the green and is always happy to help.

Refer to the bowls page for further info on pricing.

Can children bowl?

Children must be accompanied by an adult, and for their safety, children under 5 are not permitted to bowl.

Is there disability access to bowling green?

Our bowling greens are wheelchair friendly. We have a ramp that gives patrons in a wheelchair access to the green to enjoy bowling with their group.

What happens if it rains?

No worries! Your meal will be served as planned, and we have undercover areas to keep you comfortable. Bowling can continue in wet weather as long as it’s safe. If there’s a light drizzle, we offer complimentary disposable ponchos. Feel free to wear flat shoes, go barefoot, or just rock your socks during your bowling session.

If the weather makes bowling impractical, we’ve got two great options for you. You can credit your bowling cost to the bar (always a popular choice!) or get a bowling voucher to return at a better time.

What can I wear on my feet when I bowl?

All shoes worn on the green must be completely flat. No heels allowed, even small ones. You’re welcome to bowl barefoot or in socks! Please note that footwear is required off the bowling greens, including in the bar area, for safety and hygiene reasons.

Does The Boo have a dress code?

We’ve got a casual dress code that even welcomes fancy dress costumes!

Just make sure your attire stays friendly and fun—no clothing with profanity, racial, religious, or sexual remarks, please. And yes, footwear is a must (unless you’re hitting the lanes)! Sandals, thongs, and sneakers are all good to go. Just remember to keep your shoes on outside the bowling area and bar for safety and hygiene reasons.

Do you have AV equipment?

We have a fixed projector in the Hall and a wide screen in the Marquee. Both have HDMI connections. We also have blue tooth speakers in the marquee, microphones and iPod jacks for you to use. If you need anything else it will have to be hired in.

Can we bring our own decorations?

You can customise your area at The Boo however you would like, providing that any existing decor is not damaged in the process. Please use string, fishing line, or zip ties – no nails, screws, blu-tac, sticky tape or glue may be used. No gaffer tape may be used on the floor or furniture. No table confetti or party poppers, please!

I’m ready to book! What’s next?

Feel free to call our Events Team at 3251 3434 or email us at bookings@theboo.net.au to make a tentative booking anytime. To secure your booking, we require a deposit of one-third of the total amount, which will be deducted from your final bill. We’ll get in touch with you one week before your function to confirm guest numbers, meal choices, and any additional catering needs.

Can we bring our dog?

Absolutely! We’re a dog-friendly spot, so your pups are always welcome to hang out and enjoy the party with you. Just make sure they’re on a leash and well-behaved, and we’ll provide the water bowl and some cuddles!

Can I supply my own food and beverage?

BYO isn’t permitted.

As a fully licensed venue no externally sourced Food & beverages are to be brought onto the premises.

Can I bring a cake?

Feel free to bring a celebratory cake along. Your cake would be placed in the kitchen (refrigerated if necessary) and bought out on a tray with plates, spoons, serviettes and a knife for you to cut up for your guests.

Can we have confetti thrown inside or outside the venue?

Unfortunately, this is the one thing we have to put our foot down on! There is no confetti allowed inside or outside the venue. We know how stunning the thrown confetti pictures can be, so we do suggest using petals, leaves or bubbles as an alternative.

Please note that this rule also applies to eco or biodegradable confetti.

What time will I have access to set-up?

This is normally arranged depending on the amount of set-up required and whether we have an event before.

How long can we have our function for?

Card present fees: VISA & MC – 0.99%, AMEX – 2.75%

Can we play our own music?

Yes, if you have hired the Marquee you can play your own Spotify, DJ, band.  We love to party as much as you do. However, ALL entertainment must be respectful of the sound levels within the venue.  The volume restriction of 90 DB is more than enough to have a great party but, not enough to wake the dead.

What is your closing time?

All events must conclude by 11pm on Friday and Saturday night.

Do you do 18th & 21st Birthday parties?

When it comes to hosting 21st birthdays at our venue, we want to ensure everyone has a great time while staying safe. As part of our club requirements, we’ll have professional security staff on hand for a minimum of 4 hours.  This service, which costs $300, will be included in your booking invoice.

Also, please note that guests under 18 will need to be stamped for identification. It’s crucial to remember that any guest over 18 who provides alcohol to those under 18 will be asked to leave and escorted off the premises, along with the underage drinker. This is not only to keep everyone safe but also to comply with the Liquor Act, which carries legal penalties.

Let’s work together to make sure your celebration is both fun and secure. Just a heads up, we don’t offer bookings for just “bowling & drinks” for 21st birthdays—a food package is required.

Can I have my Bucks/Hens Party at The Boo?

Looking for the perfect way to celebrate your bucks or hens party? Look no further! We’ve got an array of packages designed to cater to every taste, starting from just $32 per person.  Please be aware that we don’t offer bookings for just “bowling & drinks” for hens or bucks parties. Let’s make your celebration one to remember!

Is there wheelchair accessibility?

When it comes to wheelchair accessibility, we  have a ramp leading into The Boo, and wheel chairs are more than welcome on the green. However, we’re currently working on getting disabled toilets, which is at the top of our wish list. You’re more than welcome to swing by and check out the venue to see if it meets your needs.
